Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Chromothripsis has not been identified in breast cancer and bone tumor cell lines. Anti-cancer agents are not able to induce chromothripsis in cancer cell lines, including breast, colorectal and pancreatic cancer cell lines. Fusion genes are a genetic variation similar to chromothripsis. We identified several fusion genes, including two non-coding RNAs (LOC642236 and LOC283788). Because there are no fusion genes in normal cells, fusion genes are an appropriate target for molecular targeted therapy; therefore, novel treatment therapies involving the above fusion genes are expected in the future.
