Outline of Final Research Achievements

With the objective of supporting child care workers in the Great East Japan Earthquake disaster areas (the coastal regions of Iwate Prefecture and the Nakadori region of Fukushima Prefecture), we considered the development and evaluation of in-house training programs suited to training needs. The situation regarding recovery and reconstruction was completely different between areas where entire municipalities were destroyed by the earthquake, tsunami, and fires, and areas where there was little damage to buildings but outdoor activities were restricted due to radiation damage. At that time, all child care facilities faced enormous challenges. However, many common points have been identified concerning special measures to assist child care workers adapted to the changes in each region’s situation. Thus, information regarding the results of this research has been provided at related academic conferences and symposiums.
