Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study investigated whether the pupillary response can be modulated by spatial attention when the location of a visual target was precued in an attentional cuing paradigm. Results clearly showed that stimulus-driven attentional shifts can modulate both pupillary constrictions to luminance increments and pupillary dilations to luminance decrements. These findings strongly suggest that the pupillary response can be a useful objective index of spatial attention.
