水酸基メーザー天体に対する広域探査と高精度位置計測手法の確立

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究課題は、波長18cm水酸基(OH)メーザーを指標として天の川銀河の構造把握をすべく、OHメーザー源の広域深探査を行い、同時に、低周波数電波バンドにおける年周視差計測手法の確立を目指すものである。本年度では、Parkes口径64m電波望遠鏡を用いた天の川銀河面OH放射源掃天探査の全掃天域データの処理を進めた。その結果、銀河面垂直方向の分布の厚み（140~490 pc)を求めるに留まらず、星形成領域及び進化末期星に付随するサンプルの間で殆ど分布が同じであることを見いだした。これは、OHメーザー源が比較的重い星々に付随しているという強い示唆を与える。一方米国VLBAを用いた星周OHメーザー源の年周視差計測を進め、200マイクロ秒角の年周視差計測の検出に留まらず、計測精度を向上させる観測・データ処理手法を確立した。このように、将来天の川銀河の立体構造・力学構造をkpcスケールで把握する上で、従来の水やメタノールのメーザー源に加えてOHメーザー源が重要な測量対象になり得ることを確認した。
