Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Competitive effects of alliances between competitors can properly be judged based on how they influence the profit functions of partner firms. Particular attention should be paid to the distinction between one-way profit sharing and two-way profit sharing. Two-way profit sharing shows why alliances short of mergers should nevertheless be treated as full mergers. The research also suggests that the prevailing theories will lead to overregulation of minority shareholdings.
