Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this project, I analyzed sociality of group-living mammals from a standpoint of individual heterogeneity. Particularly I focused on individual heterogeneity caused by a within-individual process of social trajectory (i.e., transition among life history stages including age, natal dispersal, reproduction, dominance rank, and so on). I employed multiple methods including fieldworks, behavioral observation, physiological measurements, phylogenetic comparative analyses on multiple species of mammals, and found results that fit predictions from adaptive theories.
