Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In the present research project, I focused on various methods of increasing students' motivation to learn English. First, it was discovered that studying abroad is effective to a certain degree, in that even after a ten-day program, students' anxiety levels decreased. However, it was also noticed that upon return to Japan, it is essential that teachers continue the feelings achieved while abroad. If this is not done, the level of students' motivation may go back to where they were before. The second goal was to look the effects of using computer technology to increase students' drive to learn. It was discovered that the use of smartphones for educational purposes and the flipped learning approach were indeed effective in increasing the motivation to learn among students. Further research is required, especially in regards to the use of technology in the classroom and what of teaching styles are effective for what kind of students.
