Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research considered a suicide prevention applying Open Dialogue. In consequence, this study implies three intervention logic of Open Dialogue is useful for suicide prevention. First is how to identify a problem. It is useful for understanding a view in first person that we recognize a person’s suicidal ideation and behavior as trying to give meaning to his/her experiences and to cope his/her hardship. Second is desirable outcome. It is helpful for a person’s whole recovery that we set goal of intervention to give new understanding and meaning to things which a person have expressed as suicidal behavior. Third is a way to produce change. Open Dialogue’s approach that makes change in relationship between a person and support system surround him/her from monologue to dialogue is needed for suicide prevention.
