Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study aimed to investigate the neural basis of social anxiety disorder (SAD) using functional and structured magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In functional MRI study, we focused on self-reflection for self-face. Patients with SAD showed significantly greater embarrassment for self-face images than healthy controls. We detected anterior rostral medial prefrontal cortex plays a key role in self-reflection. We also reported small insular volume in structured MRI study.
