| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
本研究は、20世紀初頭アメリカの通学制聾学校において、障害に由来する教育的ニーズに配慮しながら、障害のない子どもと同様の教育目標・内容・方法による通常教育に準じた教育の聾児への提供とその質の保障がどのように行われていたのかを、口話教授方法の改善、学業不振児の判定・対処方法、教育課程改良、教員養成体制との関連から、明らかにすることを目的としたものである。
前年度終了予定であったが、日本語媒体での研究成果の報告等の研究計画実施のため延長し、今年度は、『手話学研究』において「20世紀転換期米国通学制聾学校における聾者の自治と手話－イリノイ州シカゴを中心に－」として寄稿した。In Our Own Hands: Essays in Deaf History, 1780-1970に寄稿した、"From Deaf Autonomy to Parent Autonomy in Citizenship Education at Chicago Public Day Schools, 1874-1920"を基本としつつ、インクルーシブ教育等の今日的課題を踏まえて加筆を行ったものを研究成果としてまとめた。
