Outline of Final Research Achievements

We have developed a scanning soft X-ray microscope for study of element-specific and local magnetic state. Fresnel zone plate optics is used to focus a circular polarized beam into a φ100 nm beam spot. Using the focused beam, soft X-ray absorption contrast and X-ray circular dichroism imaging could be performed.
Additionally, we have reduced total measurement time. Magnetic domains of fractured permanent magnet surfaces could be clearly observed.
