Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study, I tried to clarify the spatial and social structure of the pilgrimage sites using pictorial historical materials. Specific consideration is as follows. 1) medieval Saigoku pilgrimage, 2) Middle Ages and early modern urban pilgrimage, 3) subordinate shrines of Ise Shrine in the early modern period, 4) the modernization of Chichibu pilgrimage.
