| Research Abstract |
本研究では、土壌動物による森林土壌呼吸への影響を定量的に評価し、生態系炭素収支の正確な推定を目的としている。土壌呼吸測定装置一式（PP Systems社製EGM-4、ThetaProbe等）を購入し、現地での多点測定を想定した連続使用が可能なようにカスタマイズを行った。２０１３年７月～８月に現地（タイ・サケラート環境研究ステーション）に渡航して調査地の選定、測定方法のテスト、共同研究者との打ち合わせを行った。２０１３年１２月に、測定方法の改良、乾季の調査計画に関する打ち合わせ等を行い、２０１４年３月に平成２５年度の乾季データの測定を行った。
乾季データの測定においては、土壌動物の巣（アリ、シロアリの塚等）を中心として土壌呼吸量の測定を行った。測定結果からは周辺土壌呼吸への有意な影響が検出されているが、乾季における乾燥と高い気温の影響もあってか、地中での土壌動物の活動そのものを直接観察することが困難であった。今後はこの点を解決しつつデータをさらに蓄積していくことで、土壌動物の影響の評価を行っていく。同時に、測定方法についても、土壌動物をより網羅的に調査対象とすることが可能になるように、改良型の土壌呼吸チャンバーの試験を行いつつある。
また、本研究の最終的な目標である土壌呼吸の変動を評価・予測する新しいモデル構築のために、土壌動物の代謝や活動性、環境適応などに関して他の研究者と共同して研究を行ってきた。

Reason
平成２５年度においては、調査機器の購入、調査許可申請、調査地の下見、乾季における調査渡航を計画していたが、概ね予定通り遂行できた。また、調査そのものについても現地の研究協力者との連携により順調に行うことができた。
