Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The prolyl isomerase Pin1 regulates phosphorylated status of proteins by catalyzing the cis-trans isomerization of phosphorylated Ser/Thr and Pro motifs, and plays an important role in cancer progression. Strong expression of Pin1 in prostate cancer samples taken from prostatectomy was a potent predictive factor for prognosis. In vitro, inhibition of Pin1 showed significant anti-tumor efficacy for castration resistant prostate cancer cells. These results suggested Pin1may serve as a promising therapeutic target for castration resistant prostate cancer.
