Outline of Final Research Achievements |
1.There is a possibility that functional axonal dysfunction precedes, pathological axonal damage in experimental optic neuritis. 2. Serum neurofascin may be a byproduct of axo-glial junction damage in patients with optic neuritis in neuromyelitis optica. 3. Anti-aquaporin-4 (AQP-4) antibody exists in the aqueous humor of AQP-4 positive optic neuritis patients. Therefore, there is a possibility that inner retinal layer thinning is a result of direct retinal damage.
