Outline of Final Research Achievements

In order to clarify the detailed eruption processes, magnetic petrologic analyses were carried out on samples from volcaniclastic sediments during IODP Expedition 340 and from volcanic materials of Ontake 2014 eruption. As a result, we found each deposit showed distinct magnetic petrologic characteristics and chemistry, grain size and grain shape of FeTi oxides are sensitive indicators of eruption processes.
