Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We detected nuclear genome differences between the two mtDNA clades of Cynops pyrrhogster. We found many hybrid individuals around the hybrid zone between the Central and the Western Japan groups in Chugoku district. On the contrary, we detected a few hybrid individuals around hybrid zone between the Northern and the Central Japan groups in Chubu district. The migration rate analysis revealed that an asymmetric gene introgression between two genetic groups in Chugoku district occurred, suggesting the possibility of range displacement of the two lineages as a consequence of the shift of their hybrid zone. On the contrary, we could not detected obvious nuclear genome differences based on microsatellite markers between the Tohoku and Kanto races in the Northern Japan group in Kanto district and between the Western and the Southern Japan groups in Kyushu district.
