精神障害をもつ人に対する就労支援ニーズが高まっており、これに伴って就労に必要な能力に関するアセスメント法も求められている。従来の精神障害者のアセスメントは医療現場における研究に用いることを想定した厳密かつ操作が複雑なものが多く地域の支援機関や企業内の活用は難しい。そこで本研究では、就労に必要な能力の中でも、職場や職種選びの際に特に重要と思われる認知機能と社会的スキル（対人スキル）を簡便に測定できる質問紙尺度の開発を目的とした。
研究の流れは下記のとおりである。
1）認知機能：Greig（2004）によるThe Vocational Cognitive Rating Scale(VCRS)の日本語版を開発する。VCRSは職場での作業場面を想定した行動を元に評価できる16項目5件法の他者評価質問紙であり、従来利用されてきた神経心理検査（BACS等）とも高い相関がみられ信頼性・妥当性も報告されている。原版について原著者に翻訳の許可を得た上で翻訳、バックトランスレーションを行い、データ収集を実施した。2）社会的スキル：対象者の小さな特徴や変化が捉えられるよう視線や身振りの使い方などいわば“微視的”スキルをとらえることができる質問祖の作成をめざした。就労支援の経験がある臨床家や企業の人事担当者へのグループインタビューから原項目を生成し、30項目4件法の項目プールについてデータ収集を実施した。
全国の医療機関、就労移行新事業所、行政機関を含む合計14機関にて150人分のデータ収集が完了している。現在、因子分析や他尺度等外部規準との相関分析、尺度構成や基準関連妥当性の検討などの分析を実施中である。
