Outline of Final Research Achievements

In the present study, a laser spectroscopy of the positronium negative ion has been conducted in order to observe the resonances of 1P symmetry in its one-photon detachment process. By using a high-intensity ion beam and a tunable ultraviolet laser source(225 - 230 nm), we succeeded to observe a shape resonance, which is predicted above Ps (n=2) formation threshold. The estimated resonance energy is in good agreement with three-body calculations.
