宇宙初期に大質量でコンパクトな銀河が見つかっている今、本研究はその解明を目指すものであり、学術的意義が高いと評価できる。流体計算の中で星の衝突を扱える独自開発のコードをもつ独自性の高い研究であり、観測のインパクトも大きい。応募者の研究遂行能力、研究体制なども十分と評価できる。
