Scientific Significance and Expected Research Achievements

地震断層学が扱う地震断層破壊と惑星科学が扱う天体衝突による岩石の変形破壊を、普遍的な高速破壊現象として捉え直し、破壊の物理としてその統一的理解を得ようとする点に学術的な意義がある。岩石破壊の定式化や力学的パラメータ推定法の確立が期待される。
