| Scientific Significance and Expected Research Achievements |
本研究は、樹木と菌根菌による共生系が樹木の空間分布を通して送粉・種子散布者や植食者の進化にまで波及したという仮説を提唱し、樹木に関わる生物の進化と樹木との相互作用の実態を捉えることで検証しようとするものである。各大学の演習林を活用できる強みを持ち、大規模野外調査と操作実験、メタデータの解析など、複数手法がバランス良く組み合わされた計画であると評価でき、森林生態系の進化史を包括する新しい視点をもたらすことが期待される。
