Outline of Annual Research Achievements

量子情報技術とは、量子力学の基本的な性質を、情報通信や情報処理に応用する試みである。光子は、光ファイバ等で長距離伝送が可能であるなど、有力な情報担体である。本研究では、目標として10光子をもつれ合わせることの可能な光量子回路を実現、大規模な多光子量子干渉や多光子量子もつれ状態の量子計測への応用等も試みる。
平成30年度も引き続き、単一光子源の開発、光量子回路の構築と評価などを担当する京都大学の竹内グループ、集積光導波路を設計・製作を担当する九州大学の横山グループ、理論を担当する広島大学のホフマングループの3グループが密接に連携して研究を進めた。
その結果、デスクトップ光量子回路に関しては、本プロジェクトで提唱した多光子多モード状態間量子もつれの新たな検証方法の検証実験に取り組んだ。必要となるフーリエ変換線形光学回路を独自のサニャック干渉系を用いてコンパクトで安定な実装を行った。その結果、3光子6モードについて、その原理検証に成功した。その実験結果は、竹内グループとホフマングループで共同して解析を行った。
また、オンチップ光量子回路に関しては、横山グループと竹内グループで共同し、SiN導波路リング共振器に加えてSi細線導波路を使った4光波混合発生の光学計測と解析を進めた。SI細線導波路では導波路と光入出力部の最適化で、効率的に非線形光を取り出すことに成功しその変換効率の解析を行った。また、Siに比べて二光子吸収が低く高効率の波長変換が期待できるa-Siについてもデバイス作製を進め、高い効率の4光波混合発生を確認した。さらに、窒化酸化シリコン系導波路素子を用いて光子対発生に成功、2光子吸収による飽和が見られない事を確認した。
これら一連の研究により、大規模光量子回路における量子もつれ状態の生成と検証に大きな進展を得ることができた。
