Laser Ionization Mass Spectrometry Using an Ultrashort Optical Pulse in the Vacuum Ultraviolet Region

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度は、紫外~近赤外域に亘る超短パルス光を発生させ、これを光源とする質量分析計を開発した。すなわち自己位相変調を用いてレーザー光のスペクトル帯域を拡大し、分散補正により光パルスを圧縮した。そのパルス幅を第二高調波発生周波数分解光ゲート法により測定した。その結果、近赤外域(650-1400 nm)で3.2 fs, 120 μJの光パルスを発生できることがわかった。また、その光パルスをアルゴンガスに集光して第三高調波発生により紫外光(200-400 nm)に変換し、1.9 fs, 20 nJの光パルスを得た。一方、高繰り返しフェムト秒Ybレーザー(1030 nm)の第二(515 nm)、第四高調波(258 nm)を効率よく発生させる方式について検討した。その結果、それぞれ41%、20%の高い変換効率が得られた。さらに、B5サイズ程度の小型質量分析計を設計、製作し、これを上記のレーザー及び時間相関単一イオン計数装置と組み合わせた質量分析計を開発した。一方、超短パルスレーザーを光源とする質量分析については、以下の研究を行った。(1)3.2 fsの超短光パルスをイオン化光源とすることにより、残留性有機汚染物質(POP)の一つであるペンタクロロベンゼンの分析感度が7倍増大することを明らかにした。(2)ブロモメチルナフタレン(BMN)を用いて神経ガス代謝物を測定した結果、約0.2 ng/mLの検出限界が得られ、これまでの最良の方法に匹敵することが分かった。(3)この誘導体化試薬を用いて環境汚染物質であるパーフルオロ有機酸(PFOA)を測定した。(4)時間相関イオン計数法に基づく小型質量分析計を用いて、アレルギー物質などを高感度にオンライン計測できることを示した。
