Outline of Annual Research Achievements

高圧下で相変態する純金属のTiやZrおよび半導体のSiやGeに高圧ねじり(HPT)加工や高圧スライド(HPS)加工を施し、付与圧力、導入ひずみ量および加工温度の相変態挙動に及ぼす影響を調べた。また、新たにTiO2やAl2O3の酸化物を、さらにMgH2の水素化物をHPT加工し、加工に伴う相変態挙動を調べた。
昨年度設置したSPring-8のHPS装置を用いて、高輝度X線その場解析を行った。6GPaのもと巨大ひずみを導入し相変態させた、α+ω混相Tiに対し、常圧および高圧下 (公称7GPa)のもと試料温度を170℃まで加熱し、各結晶相の消滅・生成に伴う回折イメージの変化をその場観察した。また、公称圧力4~8.5GPaのもとスライド加工し、回折イメージをその場観察し、ω相変態に及ぼす加圧とひずみの影響を調べた。さらに、HPT加工した試料およびその後アニール処理した試料を引張変形し、破断後の試料の変形部と未変形(グリップ)部の構造解析を行い、ω相の引張変形に伴う変化を調べた。
SiとGeでは、それぞれ50mol%ずつ含む固溶体を入手し、24GPaのもとHPT加工を行い、いずれの相変態挙動が生じるかをX線回折で調べた。また、TiO2やAl2O3の酸化物およびMgH2の水素化物を6GPaのもとでHPT加工し、加工に伴う相変態挙動を調べた。組織解析には、X線回折や透過電子顕微鏡観察とともに、水素発生や水素化物の安定性について調べた。
本年度も国際ワークショップを福岡市内で開催し、関連分野の研究者を招聘して圧力相変態を利用したTiやその合金について最新情報を交換した。
