南極氷床コア高解像度大気組成分析に基づく退氷期における気候・海洋・氷床変動の解明

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

平成26年度には、氷床コアからの気体抽出と温室効果ガス分析の効率化および省試料化のため、空気抽出装置および測定装置の改良を実施した。また、希ガスの抽出および分析、のための技術開発を実施した。氷床コアの連続解析によるメタン濃度分析については、レーザーキャビティリングダウン式メタン濃度測定装置を連続融解装置に接続し、南極の氷床コアの実サンプルを用いた試験分析を順調に実施した。また、南極ドームふじ氷床コアの切削法気体分析に必要な試料数量を検討したうえで、アイスコアコンソーシアムの気体解析研究グループにおいて申請書を議論した。特に二酸化炭素の過去2回の退氷期における濃度復元のための分析を計画した。
他のコアとの年代比較について、ドームふじコアとドームCコアの火山シグナルを用いた対比を実施するとともに、第1期および第2期ドームふじコアの物理計測を進め、データを取得・整備した。これによって欧州で構築されたAICC2012年代との22万年前以降における対比が可能となった。WAIS-Divideコアとの年代対比については、初期作業としておおまかな最終退氷期における対比作業を行った。宇宙線生成核種を用いた年代対比については、ベリリウム１０の測定とともに最終退氷期におけるフラックス計算方法の検討を行った。これらと並行して、ドームふじ氷床コアのO2/N2比によるタイムマーカーから深度－年代プロファイルを連続的に計算する手法を連携研究者とともに行った。
数値モデルについては、北半球氷床モデルの長期積分を試行するとともに、退氷期とバイポーラーシーソーの関連を検討するため、全球気候モデルによる複数の背景気候の再現と熱塩循環強度の検討を実施した。

Reason

おおむね研究計画に沿って進捗している。氷床コア分析については技術開発が順調に進んだ。希ガスに関しては若干遅れがあるが、メタン連続解析の開発を優先し想定以上の進捗を得たため優先度を変更したためである。また、コア申請がこれからの部分もあるが、ドームふじコアの研究コミュニティ全体の解析計画と関連して検討を続けているためであり問題ではない。
年代同期については特に大きな進展があり、深層氷床コア間の22万年前以降について1400点あまりの対比点を構築できたことは画期的である。ベリリウム１０については炭素１４との退氷期における対比に向けたデータ整備を順調に行った。ドームふじコアの年代計算手法についても十分な進展があった。
数値モデルについても気候・氷床モデルとも順調に進捗し、特に、氷床形状やCO2濃度に対する気候応答の調査に進展があった。
