Outline of Annual Research Achievements

平成27年度の研究概要を以下に述べる。
・メタン濃度の連続解析と詳細解析。メタン濃度の連続解析手法開発の総仕上げと洗練のため、グリーンランドで掘削されたアイスコアの実試料100ｍ以上の分析を成功裏に実施した。また、国立極地研究所の分析システムを用いて完新世のアイスコアを詳細に分析し、そのうちグリーンランドのデータをオレゴン州立大学による分析結果と比較したところ、100年スケールの細かい変動までよく一致する結果が得られた。
・アイスコアの年代決定。前年度に開始したドームふじコアとドームCコアの年代同期は論文化が完了した。その結果から示唆された、ドームふじコアのO2/N2年代の一部で誤差が大きい可能性を調査し改良するため、8万年前から15万年前についてO2/N2の分析を開始した。-50℃で20年間の長期保存を経たコアからのガスの抜けを探るべく、試料表面の削り落としの厚みを変えた実験を実施し、削り厚が10ｍｍ以上であれば再現性の高い良好な分析結果が得られることが分かった。1000年間隔の分析を終えたところ、O2/N2と日射との相関が過去のデータより圧倒的に高い結果を得た。
・希ガスによる海水温の復元。測定した最終退氷期のクリプトン及びキセノンの濃度に基づいて、海水温を復元する手法の開発を実施した。特に、これらのガスが氷床に取り込まれる際の重力分離の補正方法について、重い希ガスの同位体比測定を利用した方法や、フィルンの圧密・熱拡散モデルの結果を利用した補正方法が有効である可能性について検討した。
・数値モデルでは、異なる背景気候における千年スケール変動の実態を長期積分により計算し、古気候記録との対応関係について検討した。これに伴い、退氷期の気候変動と千年スケール変動との関連を調査するためドームふじコアとドームCコアの水同位体データを解析し、変動の頻度と平均気候状態の関連を詳細に調査した。

Reason

概ね研究計画に沿って進捗している。
氷床コア分析については、メタン濃度の連続解析と詳細不連続解析が開始し、年代決定のためのO2/N2の分析も進捗した。いずれのデータも、開発した分析システムが国際的に優れていることを示している。希ガスと二酸化炭素の分析は若干遅れているものの、その他の項目の進捗を優先させたためであり、問題はない。
年代決定については、今年度に出版した論文で示唆されたドームふじコアの9万年付近における年代誤差について、年代精度向上に資するO2/N2データが得られた。長期保存した試料を用いたO2/N2の高精度分析は世界初である。年代計算の手法も完成し論文が出版された。
数値モデルについても順調に進捗し、特に、様々な背景気候における気候安定性についての実験を進めた。
