超広帯域ミリ波分光システムによる銀河面分子雲のガス診断

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、多くの微量分子からのミリ波スペクトルの広域観測を推進し、微量分子放射の強度分布と、分子ガスの密度・温度・星形成活動との関連を統計的に調べ、巨大分子雲の物理状態・環境・進化状態を明らかにする。
平成26年5月には、広い帯域かつ高い周波数分解能を持つ分光計システムの性能を活かして、230GHz帯で一酸化炭素分子以外の微量分子からの電波受信を試みた。周波数設定を適切に行うことにより、微量分子からの電波を試みた。Orion KL方向の観測により、CO, CH3OH, H2CS, SO2, CS,HDO,HNCO等の同時受信に成功した。また、230GHz帯の導波管型帯域分離フィルターを用いた試験観測も実施し、逆サイドバンドからの電波の漏れ込みが100分の1以下におさえられていることを確認した。
平成26年11月はじめから今シーズンの立ち上げ作業を開始し、システムチェック、望遠鏡の指向精度調整等を経て、12月下旬から観測を開始した。本来は縦横の2偏波を同時に受信することにより観測効率を高めるシステムであるが、片偏波の受信機SISミクサが故障し、予備のSISミクサの準備が間に合わなかったため、本年度は1偏波のみでの観測となった。また、今シーズンは例年と比較して天気がかなり悪く、分子雲観測のスピードは少し遅くなったが、銀河面ほぼすべてが観測されつつある。この原稿を執筆している時点（4月上旬）でおおよそ1500平方度の観測が終了した。

Reason

12CO(2-1), 13CO(2-1), C18O(2-1)での広域観測の遂行に関しては、片偏波のSISミクサが故障したこと、天気が例年よりかなり悪かったこと、から、例年よりも多少遅いが、現時点で1500平方度の観測が完了しており、おおむね予定通りである。
微量分子の検出に関しては、230GHz帯での複数の分子の検出に成功し、230GHz帯の導波管型帯域分離フィルターも設計通りに性能を発揮していることが明らかになった。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

12CO(2-1), 13CO(2-1), C18O(2-1)での広域観測のを予定通り進める。微量分子の広域探査システムについては、導波管型帯域分離フィルターの設計・製作も問題ないことが明らかになったため、継続して開発を進める。当初の計画では100GHz帯の広帯域観測システムにより微量分子の広域探査システムを開発する予定であるが、本年度の観測により、想像以上に230GHz帯の微量分子からの放射強度が強く、巨大分子雲の環境・進化状態を探る上で、100GHz帯、230GHz帯のどちらの観測がサイエンス的に有効なのか、に関して検討を進めたいと考えている。
