自然レベル14Cをトレーサーに用いて、海洋微生物群集（特に古細菌）による海洋溶存態有機炭素（DOC）の利用
特性および海洋炭素循環における役割について、海洋古細菌・微生物バイオマスのターンオーバータイムの実測
とボックスモデルから、海洋微生物が関わる海洋DOC炭素サイクルの実態について検討を行った。
