Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study, we conducted a field survey on inclusive education in advanced foreign countries (Germany, France, and the United States). We investigated “collaboration” between medical institutions and educational institutions in Japan, the current status of cooperation between regular classes (hearing loss and language impairment) and special needs classes (hearing impairment), and communication methods in schools for the deaf. The results clarify the practices specific to the hearing impaired in inclusive education abroad, as well as the problems associated with coordinating related organizations in Japan.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

研究成果の学術的意義としては、インクルーシブの概念が各国の実情および障害者の実態やニーズに合わせ、現実的かつ柔軟なユニークな実践が既になされていたということがあげられる。例えば、独国においては、聾学校に言語学習課題をもつ健聴者を逆統合していたこと、仏国においては、健聴児童にも覚えやすいキュードスピーチを活用して難聴児とのコミュニケーションを実現していたことなどである。
社会的意義としては、我が国の現状において、医療機関側と教育機関側との意識のずれなどが課題としてあげられ、また、難聴児のニーズについても当事者の意識や考え方に配慮する必要性などが示唆された。
