Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, we focused on Clr4 methyltransferase complex (CLRC), and investigated a functional link between ubiquitin modifications and heterochromatin assembly. Affinity purified CLRC was shown to ubiquitylate histone H3. We further demonstrated that H3 ubiquitylation was tightly associated with H3K9me-enriched chromatin and that H3 ubiquitylation promotes H3K9 methylation by Clr4.
