Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In leaf vegetables including broccoli, postharvest yellowing is a major issue in terms of distribution cost. It will be useful to isolate and analyze stay-green genes, which prevent yellowing under senescence-inducing conditions, for resolution of the issue by genetic improvement. Here we isolated three stay-green genes, cytG in soybean, pif5 in Arabidopsis, and dye1 in rice, and analyzed their molecular functions.
