Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We developed rapid-prototyped pediatric disease-specific models for endoscopic surgical skills assessment, training, and preoperative simulation. Endoscopic suturing skills were assessed using the neonatal esophageal atresia/tracheoesophageal fistula (EA/TEF) simulator. Experienced surgeons showed significantly better performance than non-experienced surgeons. Congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM) models were made based on patient’s anatomy, and endoscopic surgical manipulations could be performed on the model.
