原生代ゴンドワナ衝突帯にみられる太古代地殻断片の岩石学的解析

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

平成27年度の実施計画に基づき、12月20日～31日に南インド・タミルナドゥ州南部ティルネルベリ周辺の地質調査を行い、泥質片麻岩やチャノッカイトなどの岩石試料約50個を採集した（角替、サントシュが参加）。帰国後に岩石処理を開始し、年度内に約15枚の岩石薄片を作成した。そのうちの２個について詳細な岩石学的検討を行い、鉱物化学組成をもとに岩石が形成された温度圧力条件（約800-850度、7-8 kbar）を決定した。

年度当初の７月～１１月は、既に採集済みのインドおよびスリランカの岩石について、岩石薄片の作成、鉱物化学分析、シュードセクション法による形成温度圧力の解析（以上、担当は角替）、ジルコンを用いた岩石形成年代の決定（担当：堤）、論文の執筆活動（担当：角替、サントシュ、堤）を行った。また。インド周辺のゴンドワナ大陸形成時の類似した岩石として、南極から採集した高温変成岩類も研究対象とした。また、太古代の原岩推定のために比較材料として、南部アフリカ・リンポポ岩体と北中国ブロックの岩石の処理と年代測定も並行して行った。今年度の研究により、南インドから太古代末の25-24億年前の海洋地殻の断片を確認し、プレート沈み込み時に付加帯にトラップされた断片と考えられる。また南極から約25億年前と10億年前の２回の火山弧火成作用を確認し、スリランカおよびインドの岩石との整合性と明らかにした。

研究成果として、１８件の国際学会研究発表、３件の国内学会研究発表、１１編の国際誌論文があり、現在さらに４編の論文が投稿中である。

Reason

研究成果の公表については国際ゴンドワナ研究連合年会（筑波大学）に参加し、インド、スリランカ、南極、マダガスカルの研究成果に関する１８件の国際学会研究発表（口頭およびポスター発表）を行った。また日本地球惑星科学連合年会と極域地学シンポジウムにおいて、南極やインドの研究成果に関する４件の国内学会研究発表を行った。さらに、著名な国際雑誌に大陸衝突帯に関する１１編の論文（インド５、中国２、南アフリカ２、スリランカ１、その他の地域１）が印刷または受理された。現在、４編の論文が投稿中である。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

今後も引き続き計画通りに地質調査と室内作業を続ける予定である。特に平成27年度に確認された10億年前と25億年前のマグマ活動に注目し、この証拠がみられる地域の広域的な分布を確認する。さらに、珪岩などの堆積岩の年代にも注目し、珪岩中のジルコンの年代分析を精力的に行って、年代の広域的な比較を行う。

研究分担者が計画していたスリランカでの地質調査が、相手方とのスケジュール調整が困難であったために実現しなかったため。
