Outline of Annual Research Achievements

平成28年度の実施計画に基づき、12月31日～1月8日に南インド・ケララ州コタラカラ周辺の地質調査を行い、泥質片麻岩やチャノッカイトなどの岩石試料約30個を採集した（角替、サントシュが参加）。さらに、3月6日～12日にスリランカ西部コロンボ地域の地質調査を行い、菫青石片麻岩、泥質片麻岩などの岩石試料約50個を採集した（角替が参加）。帰国後に岩石処理を開始し、年度内に約10枚の岩石薄片を作成した。そのうちの２個について詳細な岩石学的検討を行い、鉱物化学組成の分析を開始した。
年度当初の７月～１１月は、既に採集済みのインド、スリランカ、南極の岩石について、岩石薄片の作成、鉱物化学分析、シュードセクション法による形成温度圧力の解析（以上、担当は角替）、ジルコンを用いた岩石形成年代の決定（担当：堤）、論文の執筆活動（担当：角替、サントシュ、堤）を行った。今年度の研究により、スリランカと南極から、類似した18億年前の火山弧火成作用の証拠を確認したこと、このイベントが25億年前の太古代の大陸縁辺部の火成作用に相当することを初めて確認することができた。また、砕屑性ジルコンの研究からも、スリランカと南極の強い類似性を確認した。インドの研究からは、インド南部のマドゥライ南部から初めて8億年前の火成作用の証拠を確認した。その意義について、現在検討中である。
研究成果として、５件の国際学会研究発表、３件の国内学会研究発表、１３編の査読付き国際誌論文がある。

Reason

研究成果の公表については国際ゴンドワナ研究連合年会（インド）に参加し、インド、スリランカ、南極、マダガスカルの研究成果に関する１１件の国際学会研究発表（ポスター発表）を行った。また日本鉱物科学会や極域地学シンポジウムなどにおいて、南極やインドの研究成果に関する５件の国内学会研究発表を行った。さらに、著名な国際雑誌に大陸衝突帯に関する１３編の論文（インド５、南アフリカ３、中国２、スリランカ１、南極１、その他の地域１）が印刷または受理された。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

今後も引き続き計画通りに地質調査と室内作業を続ける予定である。特に平成28年度に確認された18億年前の火成作用と、すでに報告されている10億年前および25億年前のマグマ活動の分布関係に注目し、今回南極およびスリランカから確認された新証拠が、インドなどの他地域においても確認できるかを検討する。さらに、将来的な研究地域拡大のため、現在保有している南部アフリカおよびブラジルの同年代の岩石についても解析を開始する。

Causes of Carryover

研究分担者のSantosh氏（高知大学）が日程の都合上急遽スリランカ調査に参加できなくなったため、旅費の一部が次年度使用額となった。

Expenditure Plan for Carryover Budget

より精緻な研究の実施のために平成29年度にも地質調査を予定しており、その出張のために使用する予定である。また研究の実施のために必要な消耗品の購入および関連する出張のために使用することも検討している。
