Petrological study of Archean continental fragments in the Neoproterozoic Gondwana collisional orogen

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

平成29年度の実施計画に基づき、12月28日~1月7日に南インド・ケララ州コーラム周辺およびトリバンドラム北部の地質調査を行い、高温の変成作用を受けた泥質片麻岩やチャノッカイトなどの岩石試料約20個を採集した(角替、サントシュが参加)。なお、この地域は過去の調査で未だ岩石試料を採集していなかった地域であり、空白地帯を埋める目的で今回の調査を行った。帰国後に早急に岩石処理を行い、全ての岩石について薄片作成と偏光顕微鏡による組織解析を行ったのち、代表的な5試料について鉱物化学分析と変成作用の温度圧力条件の推定などを行った。その結果、これら地域が周辺地域とほぼ同程度の変成作用を被ったことを確認した。
年度当初の4月~11月は、既に採集済みのインド、スリランカ、南極、ジンバブエ、ブラジルの岩石について、岩石薄片の作成、鉱物化学分析、シュードセクション法による形成温度圧力の解析(以上、担当は角替)、ジルコンを用いた岩石形成年代の決定(担当:堤)、論文の執筆活動(担当:角替、サントシュ、堤)を行った。今年度の研究により、ブラジルのヒベイラ岩体の原岩が32億年前の岩石を原岩としていることなど、太古代の岩石がゴンドワナ大陸衝突帯に多数含有されていることを新たに確認した。また、砕屑性ジルコンの研究からも、南インド・トリバンドラム岩体の堆積岩が19億年前の岩石を後背地とすることを確認した。これは当時隣接していたスリランカの変成堆積岩の特徴(10億年前の年代を含む)と大きく異なるものであり、今後の更なる比較検討が必要である。
なお本年度の研究成果として、11件の国際学会研究発表、10件の国内学会研究発表、11編の査読付き国際誌論文がある。
