Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Using optical coherence tomography (OCT) and spectroscopic algorism, we developed new intravascular imaging method for tissue characterization of coronary atherosclerotic plaques. In the present study, we showed that this new intravascular OCT allows us to detect lipid-rich necrotic core in coronary atherosclerotic plaques which might be associated with the onset of acute myocardial infarction.
