Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Recently, the intake of phosphorus is increasing because of food additive and processed foods. Contrastively, the intake of calcium is decreasing. This nutritional condition may change bone and mineral metabolism. This study examined the effects of high-impact jump training on the tibia and calcium and phosphorus metabolism in rats fed phosphorus enriched and/or calcium poor diets. As a result, it was showed that the effects of jump training on bone mineral content and bone strength were significant, and that effect size was similar among all experimental nutritional condition, although abnormal nutrition changed calcium and phosphorus metabolism. The results of this study implied that in modern diet consumption habits, the exercise with high impact mechanical stress is important and effective for bone health.
