Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study researched Mei Lanfang's first visit to Japan in 1919, collected related materials and made it into a database, and verified the process of acceptance of Mei Lanfang in Japanese society.
2019 is the 100th anniversary of Mei Lanfang's first visit to Japan, together with the Mei Lanfang Memorial Hall in Beijing, An international symposium was held in Beijing in January and at Waseda University in July.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

今回の研究を通して、現在からおよそ百年前の日本において、梅蘭芳によって代表される中国の演劇がどのように受容されたか、その具体像が明らかになった。同時に、大正期の日本において、中国演劇がどのように表象され、受け入れられていたか、といった問題にも一定の回答を得ることができた。
さらに2019年の梅蘭芳訪日百周年にあたり、北京梅蘭芳記念館と共同で北京及び東京で国際シンポジウムを開催、また上海戯曲芸術センターと共同で、同じく百周年を記念する公演を開催できた。これらを通して、研究成果を日中双方で共有し、また広く一般の人々にも知らしめることができたと考える。
