Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research covers achievements what Narushima Nobuyuki and his descendants made in the culture area of the retainers of the shogunate, in connection with literary men in the same period.
Concretely,it contains a chronological record of Narusima Nobuyuki, a note on an archaism Hitomotogusa, literature of the Tayasu-Tokugawa house, and refined and vulgar literature of local culture area, dealing with Narushima family.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

成島信遍という人物は、一般にはほとんど知られていない。しかし、信遍の事績を調べれば調べるほど、近世中期の江戸で彼がいかに好学の武士の尊敬を集めたか、いかに広汎な人脈を基礎として豊富な学芸活動を展開したかが知られ、信遍及び成島家の歴代を通しての江戸文壇の考究が有効な方法であることを如実に知ることができた。
信遍の生涯を辿る伝記研究の完成は、続く研究テーマとして設定ずみである。
