Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this research project, the Novel laureate African-American novelist Toni Morrison's work has been examined with the emphasis on the representations of African Americans and women in media. Conducting this research, her strategies to defy the authoritative power structures were clarified. Morrison skilfully revealed the manipulating process by which power structures are shrewdly constructed to obscure and silence those who are placed in the margins of society. Her influences on the modern literature and culture in the age of multiculturalism was evident. This research project proved the importance of creating a space which respects diversity, by challenging the monolithic values of the mainstream society and fostering the coexistence of different entities.
