Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Last year, I gave a lecture at two symposiums in France (Paris-I University, Rouen University), both in June 2016): the first one was dealing with a range of theater plays written during the whole 18th century in France, including the revolutionary decade; the second one as dealing with the oratory in a broad historical perspective, with a focus on revolutionary France. I also took part to a symposium in the University of Tokyo (November 2016) : the topic ("Mazarinades, i.e. the political literature released during the "Fronde" riots in the middle of 17th century) was a bit far from Revolution and drama, but its historical and philosophic background is to prove very useful for my reflection on my research project. I also took benefit from 2 relatively long stays in France (3 weeks in August 2016, 3 weeks in February and March 2017) to advance my research in the French National Library in Paris, to meet with some colleagues involved in the same field, and to finish writing 2 long articles directly focused on my subject matter, French revolutionary drama and oratory. Those papers are likely to be published in the forthcoming months.
