Outline of Final Research Achievements

To clarify acoustic features related to speech naturalness of non-native speakers of Japanese, Japanese native speakers rated naturalness of Japanese words spoken by Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, and French speakers. Multiple regression analysis showed that absolute value of standardized partial regression coefficients is large for relative fundamental frequency, relative duration or relative VOA (Voice Onset Asynchrony). This result suggests that speech naturalness of non-native speakers relates to these acoustic features.
