Outline of Final Research Achievements |
From original recordings made on field trips to Britain and Ireland, the present-day distribution of the sounds of each Celtic accent of English was reported. Three local accents of South Wales English, two local accents of Irish English and four local accents of Cornish English were recorded. The data were compared with previous recordings of six local accents of Scottish English and the recordings of local accents of Manx English and Scouse sponsored by another JSPS KAKENHI from 2018. Several new findings were appeared through this research. The researcher also acquired the better skills to recruit suitable subjects for the recordings and to select words of the reading list for recordings.
