| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
I investigated mainly at some libraries in the UK. At Cambridge I found many pencil notes of W.G.Aston and E.M.Satow written in Kokugaku books, and confirmed that both read Kokugaku books carefully and eagerly together. As a result, Imade it clear that Aston used critically and objectively the opinions in those Kokugaku books when he wrote his footnotes of "Nihongi".
