Outline of Final Research Achievements

The Records of the 1707 Eruption on Mt.Fuji was compiled and inherited, while considering the effects on the Faith for Mt.Fuji, and the communications of the people coming and going between Yamanashi and Shizuoka.
Also the Records of the Eruption on Mt.Asama,the typical Volcano in Eastern Japan, reflected the history of the Eruption and Faith for Mt.Fuji, while sharing the informations.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究の結果、これまで地域ごとに個別にまとめられていた宝永噴火の災害記録が一括して把握されるとともに、災害記録の作成や継承が、地域の人々の生活や生業に及ぼした影響が明らかとなった。
2011年3月11日に発生した東日本大震災を始めとする近年の大規模災害に際しては、被災地における文化財のレスキューや災害情報の記録化を行う事業が、現在も継続的に実施されている。
本研究の成果は、現代社会で課題となっている災害の記憶を継承するあり方を、歴史から学ぶ機会に有効な情報として活用が期待される。
