Outline of Final Research Achievements

First, econometric analysis using province and city-level panel data shows that bank finance is more able to promote private sector in coastal area with more developed economy. Second, econometric analysis using firm-level micro data finds that receiving more bank loans improves productivity and performance of private firms while it has negative impact on performance of state-owned firms. Third, it is suggested that stronger political connection enables state-owned firms to get access to more bank loans while similar observation cannot be obtained for private firms.
