Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Historically, foreign workers could not work as a care worker in long-term care (LTC) settings in Japan even with a national qualification of “certified care worker.” However, new policies developed in November 2016, included a new visa status“Kaigo(LTC) ” and added a new “Kaigo(LTC)”area to already existing “Ginou-Jissyuu (Technical-Intern Training)” program. Thus, Japan is facing a very critical phase regarding foreign care worker policies. The purpose of this study was to examine these new policies by exploring perceptions of administrators and care workers about their implementation through a nationwide mail survey. Moreover, bibliography regarding foreign care workers in Japan was also compiled.
