Outline of Final Research Achievements

Measures for preventing elderly people from isolated death were classified into three types: (1) government-led, (2) associative, and (3) residents’ initiatives. Conducting preventive measures only through government-led administrative action was considered difficult, and residents’ cooperation was considered indispensable. However, recently, public responsibility has been decreasing, and it has become difficult to conduct preventive activities by residents. Moreover, in recent times, communities have been collapsing, and family relationships have been weakening. Therefore, associative-type activities could be expected to increase.
