Outline of Final Research Achievements

Millimeter wave has been applied to the automotive radar and full-body scanner in the field of sensing. However, mechanical scanning which is generally used as a scanning system of the millimeter wave has problems such as cost and space. Liquid crystal materials that have dielectric anisotropy and large electro-optical effects, are candidates for microwave and millimeter-wave modulation devices.
In this study, we proposed a liquid crystal / dielectric multilayer structure in which liquid crystals and dielectrics are alternately stacked. Millimeter-wave deflection properties are calculated and estimated for design of the millimeter-wave deflection devices.
